Chiefs’ Andy Reid on Justin Houston’s return: ‘We’re close’
Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Monday that outside linebacker Justin Houston, who continues to work his way back from offseason knee surgery, is nearing a return to action.
“We’re pretty close here,” Reid said.
The Chiefs activated Houston from the physically-unable-to-perform list last Wednesday, and allowed him to speak to the media the next day, which was a sign he might play.
But on Friday, Reid said they would hold Houston out another week.
“We’ll just kind of pick up where we left off last week, see how he’s doing,” Reid said. “If he can get in there and roll, he’ll get in there and roll. If he can’t, he can’t.”
Reid said Houston was feeling pretty good by Friday, though; they just continue to be careful with him.
“I know he’s looking forward to getting back in,” Reid said. “We upped the workload last week, and he felt pretty good.”
