The Chiefs entered Sunday’s game against the Steelers leading the NFL in takeaways and red-zone defense.

They failed miserably in both areas in the 43-14 loss.

A week after recording eight takeaways in a victory over the Jets, the Chiefs got none against the Steelers. The Chiefs committed turnovers on running back Spencer Ware’s third fumble in three games and Alex Smith’s second interception of the year, and the Steelers turned both turnovers into touchdowns.

The Chiefs entered the game with 10 takeaways on the season. Opponents had scored touchdowns on 23 percent of their trips to the red zone.

The Steelers reached the red zone twice in the first half and once in the fourth quarter and scored touchdowns on all three occasions.
