John Elway opens news conference by thanking John Elway

Denver Broncos general manager and longtime Chiefs nemesis John Elway spoke to reporters Tuesday about parting ways with coach John Fox and whether he wants quarterback Peyton Manning back.

Elway’s first order of business? Thanking John Elway.

The former Broncos quarterback started off with a slip of the tongue, thanking himself instead Fox, as he intended.

Elway said a disagreement on what it takes to win a Super Bowl led to Fox’s split from the Broncos.

He also said he expects Manning to return next season and wants to meet with him in another month.
