Five ARCA drivers to watch Friday at Kansas Speedway
Ross Kenseth
No. 3 Chevrolet
Kenseth, son of 2003 Sprint Cup champion and two-time Kansas Speedway winner Matt Kenseth, will make his first career start at a track more than one mile in distance. It will be the second ARCA start of his career. Kenseth, 21, won the pole at Madison (Wis.) International Speedway in 2013 and led 51 laps before finishing sixth.
Frank Kimmel
No. 44 Toyota
Kimmel, 52, is the face of ARCA, having won a record 10 championships. Kimmel won for the third time at Kansas Speedway last year for his 80th career win, surpassing Iggy Katona as ARCA’s all-time winner. Kimmel, who won the inaugural race at Kansas Speedway in 2001, a NASCAR Winston West event, has yet to win in 2014.
Grant Enfinger
No. 90 Ford
Enfinger, who finished third at Kansas Speedway in 2011 and 2012, wrecked in practice last year and was unable to run because he didn’t have a backup car. Enfinger, 29, won the first three races of this season, starting with Daytona and has won a series-most six times this year.
Tom Hessert
No. 72 Dodge
This will be the seventh straight season that Hessert, 28, will finish in the top-10 in the ARCA points standings, and the second time he can finish as high as third. In 138 career series starts since 2007, he has five wins, including at Talladega and Salem (Va.) this year. His career-best finish at Kansas was sixth in 2010.
Justin Boston
No. 25 Toyota
Despite a racing background that consisted mostly of motocross competition, Boston has made the transition to stock car racing. Boston, 25, finished third in the standings in 2013 when he was rookie of the year and finished fifth at Kansas. This season he has posted ARCA wins at Toledo and Madison (Wis.). He finished ninth at Kentucky and 12th at Dover in NASCAR Nationwide races for Joe Gibbs Racing.
