Bacon Day will sizzle at Saturday at Kauffman Stadium
Bacon in cocktails. Bacon in grilled cheese. Bacon is everywhere these days. And now there will be bacon at The K.
Yep, the Kansas City Royals are on the bacon bandwagon. Royals Hall of Famer Mike Sweeney will host Bacon Day at Kauffman Stadium on Sept. 3.
There actually is an International Bacon Day, and Farmland, a division of Smithfield Foods, will play it up with a Sluggerrr sculpture made out of bacon. Fans will be welcome to pose next to it.
There also will be a bacon baseball trivia game, “extreme” bacon recipes to share, free samples, and somebody will win a year’s supply of Farmland bacon.
Harvesters — The Community Food Network also will get a 25,000-pound protein donation to its food pantry.
Oh, yes, it’s also Salvador Perez bobblehead day. (The statuettes won’t be bacon-wrapped.)
