Royals activate closer Wade Davis, option rookie Brooks Pounders to Class AAA Omaha
As expected, the Royals on Saturday afternoon activated Wade Davis from the 15-day disabled list. Davis, who battled a forearm strain before the All-Star break, will be available out of the bullpen tonight against the Tigers.
In a corresponding roster move, the Royals optioned rookie reliever Brooks Pounders to Class AAA Omaha.
Davis has recorded a 1.23 ERA and 19 saves in 2016. He was voted to his second straight All-Star Game but did not participate because of the injury.
