Alex Gordon to begin rehab assignment at Northwest Arkansas
As expected, left fielder Alex Gordon will begin a rehab assignment at Class AA Northwest Arkansas on Sunday afternoon.
Gordon, who is recovering from a broken scaphoid bone in his right hand, has been out since May 22 after colliding with third baseman Mike Moustakas on a foul ball at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago.
The Royals would like Gordon to get 20 to 25 at-bats on his rehab assignment, which could include a stop at Class AAA Omaha later this week.
Barring any setbacks, Gordon could be ready to return to the roster on Friday when the Royals play host to the Houston Astros at Kauffman Stadium.
