Royals announce 23 non-roster invites to spring training

The Royals announced Monday that they will invite 23 non-roster players to spring training next month in Surprise, Ariz.

They will join the players on the Royals’ 40-man roster when full-squad workouts begin Feb. 25. Pitchers and catchers report on Feb. 19.

Fifteen of the invitees were in the Royals’ organization last season.

▪ Left-handed pitchers (4): Scott Alexander (sixth round, 2010), Buddy Baumann (seventh round, 2009), Chris Dwyer (fourth round, 2009) and Sean Manaea (34th overall, 2013).

▪ Right-handed pitchers (3): Miguel Almonte (non-drafted free agent), Christian Binford (30th round, 2011) and Casey Coleman (played in Royals’ system in 2014).

▪ Catchers (2): Cam Gallagher (second round, 2011) and Parker Morin (14th round, 2012)

▪ Infielders (4): Hunter Dozier (eighth overall, 2013), Matt Fields (played in Royals’ system in 2014), Whit Merrifield (ninth round, 2010) and Raul Mondesi (non-drafted free agent)

▪ Outfielders (2): Brett Eibner (second round, 2010) and Bubba Starling (fifth overall, 2011)

The other non-roster invitees are:
