Royals’ veterans will ease into Cactus League games
This is a good year for prospects to be seen in Royals camp.
With the Royals coming off a second straight World Series appearance, and last season extending into November, manager Ned Yost said he plans to ease veterans into exhibition games, which start Wednesday.
“These guys have had short winters, two in a row,” Yost said. “The goal is to have everybody ready by Opening Day.
“You’ll see most of the regulars in there, but we’ll go slow with them the first couple of weeks.”
Yost said catcher Salvador Perez is unlikely to play until Saturday, the fourth scheduled exhibition game.
One starter who hasn’t been with the team for the past two days is designated hitter Kendrys Morales. Yost said Morales has been dealing with flu-like symptoms but is expected to return soon.
