‘Royals Charities’ foundation sets record for giving in 2015

The Royals’ philanthropic foundation, Royals Charities, handed out a record $1.5 million to 122 organizations and governmental entities in the Kansas City area during 2015, the club announced on Monday.

The monies went to support causes for children, education, youth baseball/softball and the military. Recipients included Big Brother Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City, Dream Factory, El Centro, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas RBI, KVC Health Systems, MOKAN 20/20 Leadership, Operation Breakthrough, Special Olympics KC Metro, The University of Kansas Hospital NICU and Whiteman Air Force Base.

Royals Charities has now donated more than $10.5 million to Kansas City area charities since 2001.

All 501(c)(3) organizations operating in the Kansas City-area that support children, education, youth baseball/softball and the military are welcome to apply for a Royals Charities grant. The deadline for the spring 2016 grant cycle is March 1.
