Joakim Soria reportedly is returning to the Royals’ bullpen
The Royals have reached into their past to plug a hole in their bullpen, as the team has reportedly agreed to a three-year, $25 million contract with Joakim Soria, who pitched in Kansas City during 2007-11.
The contract was first reported by CBS Sports. A message left for general manager Dayton Moore early Monday morning went unreturned.
Soria, 31, posted a 2.53 ERA for Detroit and Pittsburgh in 2015. He was a two-time All-Star for the Royals in 2008 and 2010.
Earlier on Sunday, Ryan Madson signed a three-year, $22 million contract with Oakland. The Royals were seeking another arm to complement Wade Davis, Kelvin Herrera and Luke Hochevar in their bullpen.
