Royals manger Ned Yost is one of three finalists for the American League Manager of the Year award.

The award is voted on by members of the Baseball Writers Association of America, which released the finalists Tuesday. The others are Baltimore’s Buck Showalter and the LA Angels’ Mike Scioscia.

Voting took place before the postseason, so it won’t take into account the Royals’ three-game sweep of the Angels in an AL Division Series and their four-game sweep of Baltimore for the AL championship.

The Angels finished the regular season with the best record in baseball at 98-64, while the Orioles tied the NL’s Washington Nationals for the second-best mark at 96-66. The Royals finished 89-73, a game behind the Tigers for first place in the AL Central, and made the playoffs as one of two AL wild-card teams.
