Headed to the Royals’ home opener? Bring a coat
Don’t be surprised Friday if you’re hearing your coat in the closet singing, “Take me out to the ballgame.”
The boys of summer might be back on the field today for the Royals home opener, but the summer temperatures sure aren’t.
It’s going to be chilly and breezy and the National Weather Service in Kansas City is recommending on its Facebook page that people take a coat.
The Royals are playing the Chicago White Sox at 3:10 p.m. and game time temperatures are expected to be in the upper 40s.
Winds will be around 15 mph, with gusts up to 21 mph, making temperatures feel more like they are in low 40s.
Friday got off to a cold start as temperatures overnight dropped to 38 degrees in Kansas City. Factor in the wind and Kansas City area residents woke up to wind chills in the 20s.
Temperatures will warm into the upper 50s to lower 60s this weekend. While there’s a chance for showers Saturday night, no hazardous weather is anticipated into next week, according to the National Weather Service.
