Report: Suspended Miguel Tejada also linked to Biogenesis
According to a report from ESPN’s Pedro Gomez, Royals infielder Miguel Tejada was involved in baseball’s investigation into the Biogenesis drug case, but MLB decided to suspend Tejada instead after his positive tests for amphetamines.
Tejada was suspended
after testing positive for amphetamines for the third time in his career.
According to ESPN, Tejada was allegedly a customer of Tony Bosch’s Biogenesis clinic. Earlier this month, MLB suspended 13 other players who were linked to Biogenesis. ESPN’s sources said that Tejada was given the choice — suspension for amphetamines or additional punishment for the Biogenesis connection.
Tejada didn’t fight his suspension, although he said he had a therapeutic use exemption for the drug Adderall that had expired.
Tejada, 39, hit .288 with three home runs and 20 RBIs in 53 games this season.
