Kansas City Royals draft tracker: See who KC picked on Day 2 of 2026 MLB Draft
The Kansas City Royals are back on the clock for Day 2 of the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft.
On Sunday, the Royals will make 16 selections between Rounds 5-20 of the MLB Draft. The newest prospects will join the KC organization this summer.
The Royals are already off to an intriguing start. The club selected University of Louisville outfielder Zion Rose in the first round. Rose, 21, is an advanced hitter with the potential to add power to his game.
As a former catcher, Rose transitioned to an outfield role. He hit .417 with six home runs and 47 RBIs in 36 games last season.
The Royals rounded out their Day 1 selections by taking RHP Taylor Rabe (No. 30), RHP Jack Slightom (No. 56), LHP Maxx Yehl (No. 91) and OF Dominic Battista (No. 119).
Here’s a look at the Royals’ Day 2 selections:
5th Round: LHP Ethan McElvain
Ethan McElvain spent one season at the University of Arkansas after beginning his college career at Vanderbilt. In his lone season as a Razorback, McElvain posted a perfect 6-0 record with a 1.88 ERA and 55 strikeouts in 20 relief appearances. After his stellar junior year, McElvain was also named to the All-SEC second team.
