Royals move game time for rare ‘Sunday Night Baseball’ appearance due to weather

The Kansas City Royals have moved up the start of their rare Sunday night baseball game due to the threat of inclement weather, the club announced in a news release.

Today’s Royals game is now set for a 3:10 p.m. first pitch (Peacock/NBCSN) due to the threat of poor weather conditions, the club said Sunday.

Kansas City will face the Los Angeles Angels in the series finale at Kauffman Stadium having already won the first two games of the series. The Royals take a 10-17 record into Sunday’s game. Los Angeles is 12-16, having lost six of seven overall.

“Out of an abundance of caution due to the potential for inclement weather tonight, 1st pitch for today’s game at Kauffman Stadium between the Royals and Angels has been moved to 3:10 p.m. CT,” the Royals said in a news release. “It was originally scheduled to start at 6:20 p.m. CT.”

The Royals, who are off Monday, will have to wait for their first “Sunday Night Baseball” action since 2016, but they’ll get their next chance on May 10 against the Detroit Tigers. That game, set for a 6:20 p.m. first pitch at Kauffman Stadium, will be available on Peacock.

The Royals will also play a Sunday night game in September.
