Royals broadcast plans are set for 2026 season, but change could come after that
AI-generated summary reviewed by our newsroom.
- Royals will broadcast 2026 games on FanDuel Sports Kansas City, deal to be announced.
- Current contract runs through 2026; Royals will seek higher rights fees afterward.
- FDSKC ranked first in prime time locally and streams games via cable and Prime.
The Royals are expected to announce Wednesday that their 2026 games once again will be broadcast and streamed on FanDuel Sports Kansas City.
FDSKC, which was rebranded from Bally Sports Kansas City last year, is owned by the Main Street Sports Group (formerly the Diamond Sports Group).
The Royals and FanDuel Sports Kansas City had a mutual option on their contract for the 2026 season, and both sides didn’t hesitate to continue their partnership. That contract, however, expires after next season and the Royals will have an opportunity to look for a more financially enticing deal.
When the Royals announced their broadcast deal with FDSKC ahead of the 2025 season, it was for less money than the previous season, Brooks Sherman, president of business operations, said on the team’s website.
However, Sherman didn’t reveal how much the team was receiving for its broadcast rights.
The Royals undoubtedly will look for a more financially lucrative deal with their next broadcast contract, whether that’s with FDSKC or another partner.
How to watch the Royals in 2026
Fans who were able to watch the Royals in 2025 won’t have to change a thing next season.
FanDuel Sports Kansas City is available on cable, satellite and streaming. Games will also be shown on Amazon Prime.
“There is nothing more important to us than connecting with and making our games available to our great fans,” Royals CEO and chairman John Sherman said in a news release. “Our viewership is growing and continues to rank among the best in baseball both through linear cable and streaming, and we look forward to continuing that strong momentum through our ownership group’s investment and the exciting team J.J. Picollo and his staff are building.”
The Royals said their games on FDSKC were ranked first in prime time in the Kansas City area during the season. And the Royals games were among the top 10 in household rating among all MLB teams.
