Royals doctors to examine injured wrist of Salvador Perez
Royals catcher Salvador Perez sat out on Friday evening for the third game in a row, resting his sore left wrist, and manager Ned Yost was unsure when Perez would be ready to rejoin the lineup.
The team’s medical staff was expected to examine Perez on Friday. Perez has been dealing with inflammation and fluid in the joint for about a week. He left Tuesday’s game against Detroit when the injury was aggravated on a play at the plate.
“They’re still keeping him away from baseball stuff,” Yost said. “They want to determine where he’s at, if he needs more time, or not.”
Both an X-ray and an MRI have shown no significant damage, the Royals have said.
With Perez out of the lineup, the team has relied upon Drew Butera behind the plate.
