‘KC let’s go!’ Royals prospect from Park Hill chosen for MLB All-Star Futures Game
Catcher Carter Jensen was promoted to Triple-A Omaha last week, but he’ll soon be leaving the Storm Chasers for a few days.
Jensen, who was a star at Park Hill High School, was chosen for the 2025 All-Star Futures Game. Top prospects from all 30 Major League Baseball teams will participate in the game, including left-handed pitcher Frank Mozzicato, who was the Royals’ 2021 first-round draft pick.
Mozzicato, who is at Double-A Northwest Arkansas, and Jensen will play for the American League team against top NL minor-leaguers in the game, which kicks off the MLB All-Star Game festivities.
The Futures Game is at July 12 at 3 p.m. at Truist Park in Atlanta. It will air live on MLB Network.
“Man I’m so blessed, thank you to the man above!!!” Jensen wrote on X. “KC let’s go!”
Jensen, who was a third-round pick in the 2021 draft, batted .292 with nine doubles, four triples, seven home runs and 38 RBIs in 68 games with the Naturals.
The Storm Chasers noted that since Jensen’s first full season in 2022, his 277 walks rank are the fifth-most in minor league baseball. He’s also third in RBIs (200), fourth in doubles (75), fourth in home runs (47), fourth in runs scored (235) and fifth in hits (373) during that time.
“I think the experience he got in Double-A, he was there for roughly a year, had about 500 plate appearances, that’s a full season at a level,” Royals general manager J.J. Picollo said last week.
“And once a guy, I don’t say he wasn’t challenged, once a guy is performing that consistently over a number of weeks, there’s another step for him to take. So he’ll get a half a year there in Triple-A, and that’d be great.”
Mozzicato has a 4.29 ERA with 55 strikeouts in 63 innings between Class A Quad Cities and Northwest Arkansas.
