Kansas City Royals star Bobby Witt Jr. returns to lineup after forearm injury
Kansas City Royals star Bobby Witt Jr. returned to action in Saturday’s Cactus League game against the Cleveland Guardians.
Witt played seven innings after missing time with a left forearm contusion. He finished 1-for-4 and scored a run in the Royals’ 7-5 loss at Surprise Stadium.
“He didn’t say anything (about the injury) and he wanted to stay in for the extra at-bat,” manager Matt Quatraro told reporters in Surprise, Arizona.
On Wednesday, Witt was hit by a 95-mph sinker against the Seattle Mariners. He exited the game and received further evaluation.
The Royals announced that X-ray results were negative for a fracture. Witt missed a few days but avoided significant injury.
Witt tested his forearm on Friday. Quatraro said Witt felt good about a return to action.
In the game, Witt started at shortstop and batted second behind Jonathan India. This spring, Witt is hitting .273 with two home runs and four RBIs in 33 at-bats.
KC defeated the Cincinnati Reds 13-7 in their second game of the day.
