Royals’ top prospects will compete in MLB showcase game. Here’s the complete roster

The Kansas City Royals will get a closer look at their top prospects later this month.

On Thursday, KC announced its 2025 Spring Breakout roster which includes No. 1 prospect Jac Caglianone and catching duo Blake Mitchell and Carter Jensen. Mitchell is on the roster, but will not play due to surgery to repair a hamate bone fracture in his right wrist.

Caglianone has drawn praise in his first big-league camp. He has produced several highlights, including a 435-foot home run against the Chicago White Sox.

He will headline the Spring Breakout roster. The Royals will have multiple top-30 prospects available on March 14 against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The spring showcase will start at 7:10 p.m. Central at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick.

Other Royals prospects include local KC-area natives Noah Cameron and Ben Kudrna. Both entered big-league camp earlier this spring.

Cameron posted a 3.08 ERA in 25 minor-league starts. He found success with Triple-A Omaha and finished the season with 62 strikeouts in 54 ⅓ innings. Meanwhile, Kudrna continued to climb the Royals system.

Kudrna advanced to Double-A Northwest Arkansas last season. He is currently listed as the Royals’ No. 4 prospect in 2025.

A few prospects are on the Royals 40-man roster. The club added pitchers Eric Cerantola and Luinder Avila this offseason to the MLB reserve list. Royals outfielder Tyler Gentry, who made his MLB debut last season, will also play in the game.

The Royals also added right-handed pitcher Drew Beam to the roster.

Beam starred for the Tennessee Volunteers and was a third-round pick in the 2024 MLB Draft. He will get a chance to showcase his ability after being limited to a few instructional innings at the Royals’ Arizona complex last year.

Major League Baseball held the inaugural Spring Breakout game in 2024. The Royals faced the Milwaukee Brewers prospects last spring.

Only minor-league prospects will play in the Spring Breakout game. Coverage of the exhibition will be available on the MLB’s digital platforms: MLB.com, MLB.TV and the MLB app.

The Royals will play the Los Angeles Angels earlier in the day. The regularly scheduled spring game will start at 3:10 p.m. Central.
