The Royals will have to wait a little bit longer for the second half of the MLB season to get underway.

Kansas City announced Friday afternoon that the day’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays would be postponed until Saturday, July 15, when the teams will play a split doubleheader at Kauffman Stadium.

The first game on Saturday is scheduled to start at 1:10 p.m. Central. The second game will start at 6:10 p.m., the Royals said. The split doubleheader will feature two nine-inning regulation games.

Tickets for Friday’s game will be honored for the rescheduled game — Game 1 on Saturday — the Royals said. “Fans do not have to exchange their original tickets” for that game, the club added.

More details regarding Royals tickets will be posted at royals.com/weather.

The Royals were slated to start Alec Marsh on Friday night. He will draw the start in Game 1 of the doubleheader against the Rays.

The Royals announced that left-hander Cole Ragans will be the 27th man for tomorrow’s doubleheader against the Rays. He will be making his Royals debut as the starting pitcher of the second game. (Both the Royals and the Rays are allowed to carry a 27th player for the doubleheader. The player must be on the 40-man roster and will return to the minor leagues after both games.)

Ragans was acquired in the Aroldis Chapman trade with Texas. Ragans is 1-1 with a 5.59 ERA in 9.2 innings with Triple-A Omaha. He has struck out 12 batters and allowed six runs. Ragans made 17 appearances for the Rangers this year. He was 2-3 with a 5.92 ERA with Texas.

The Royals split a four-game series against Tampa in June.
