The Royals recalled relief pitcher Aaron Brooks from Class AAA Omaha on Wednesday and optioned left-handed reliever Brandon Finnegan to Omaha in a corresponding move.

After Tuesday’s doubleheader, the Royals needed a fresh arm in the bullpen because six of their seven relievers had pitched at least one inning in the two games (Franklin Morales was the only reliever not used).

Finnegan pitched 1.1 innings during the 7-1 nightcap victory of the doubleheader and walked a batter.

Entering Wednesday, Brooks had given up three runs in 4.1 innings across two relief appearances this season.
