There are always buyers and sellers at the Major League Baseball trade deadline, and the Kansas City Royals most likely will be in the latter category.

Even before they traded left fielder Andrew Benintendi, the New York Post reported the Royals were “talking ‘more seriously’ about the versatile Whit Merrifield in trade discussions than ever before.”

This year’s trade deadline is Aug. 2, and we’ll be updating all the deals the Royals make. Here’s what they have done so far.

Aug. 1: The Royals acquired right-hander Anthony Misiewicz from the Seattle Mariners for cash

Aug. 1: The Royals received right-hander Luke Weaver from the Arizona Diamondbacks for third baseman Emmanuel Rivera.

July 27: The Royals traded left fielder Andrew Benintendi to New York Yankees for minor-league right-handers Beck Way and Chandler Champlain, and left-hander T.J. Sikkema.

July 16: The Royals acquired minor-league right-handed pitcher Jonatan Bernal from the Toronto Blue Jays for lefty Foster Griffin.

July 11: The Royals acquired three minor-league players (outfielder Drew Waters, right-hander Andrew Hoffmann and infielder CJ Alexander) from the Atlanta Braves for the 35th overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft.

June 27: The Royals traded first baseman Carlos Santana and cash to the Seattle Mariners for right-hander Wyatt Mills and minor-league pitcher William Fleming.
