Kansas City Royals call up left-hander Angel Zerpa, option reliever Collin Snider

The Kansas City Royals called up left-handed pitcher Angel Zerpa from Double-A Northwest Arkansas and optioned right-handed reliever Collin Snider to Triple-A Omaha before Friday’s home game against Baltimore.

Zerpa is 1-4 in nine starts this season. He’s posted 45 strikeouts and 11 walks in 14 1/3 innings.

He made one start for the Royals last season, taking the loss in a late September game at Cleveland despite not surrendering an earned run over five innings.

Snider is 4-2 with a 7.71 ERA in 27 games this season. Over his previous three games, he’s surrendered five earned runs in 1 2/3 innings.
