Royals

Kansas City Royals lag the field one quarter into season. Is there hope for a change?

The Royals have started the second quarter of the season and Kansas City hopes this one doesn’t unfold as poorly as the first. Game No. 40, Sunday against the Twins was as bad as it gets, with the Royals losing a six-run lead after seven innings and falling 7-6.

The loss left the Royals 14-26, matching the Detroit Tigers for worst record in the AL Central. After the weekend, the only teams in baseball with worse records are the Reds and Nationals.

But there are some recent good signs. In the crushing loss to Minnesota, Brady Singer delivered his second straight outstanding start. Royals rookie position players are outperforming the veterans.
