Wednesday’s Kansas City Royals game in Chicago changed to an afternoon start

Wednesday’s Kansas City Royals game against the White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago has been changed from a night game to an afternoon start.

The host White Sox announced on Tuesday afternoon that Wednesday’s game, the second game of a three-game series, has been changed to a 1:10 p.m. Central time first pitch. The scheduled pitching matchup for that game features Royals right-hander Zack Greinke (0-1, 2.25) against White Sox right-hander Dylan Cease (2-1, 3.38).

The game had originally been scheduled for a first pitch at 6:10 p.m. The club cited “a forecast of cold temperatures” in its announcement.

The National Weather Service in Chicago predicts cool and breezy conditions with frost and near to below freezing temps (28-36 degrees) for Tuesday night’s series-opening game at 6:10.

On Wednesday, the NWS forecasts temperatures between 33-37 degrees with a possibility of a light wintry mix.

The teams are scheduled to wrap up their series on Thursday afternoon with first pitch set for 1:10 p.m.

Game tickets, parking coupons and Huntington Bank Stadium Club passes for Wednesday’s originally scheduled 6:10 p.m. start will be honored for the 1:10 p.m. first pitch, according to the White Sox.
