Wednesday afternoon’s scheduled Kansas City Royals game against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium has been postponed by rain and forecast of thunderstorms.

The National Weather Service forecast “severe weather” for East-Central and Southeast Missouri and Southwest Illinois, including the potential for a tornado.

The game has been rescheduled for Monday, May 2 at 3:15 p.m. at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. That date had been an off-day for the Royals following a home game against the New York Yankees that Sunday and the start of a two-game series with the Cardinals at Kauffman Stadium on that Tuesday.

The Royals will host the Detroit Tigers for a four-game series beginning on Thursday night.

Veteran right-hander Zack Greinke, who started on Opening Day, had been slated to start on Wednesday.
