The Major League Baseball lockout officially ended on Thursday night and a full 162-game schedule will be played by all teams, including the Kansas City Royals.

But the schedule will be adjusted due to the late start to spring training.

The first two series of the regular season, one on the road against the Chicago White Sox and one in Kansas City, will be rescheduled. Those new dates have not yet been announced.

On Friday, the Royals sent an email to fans and subscribers to their newsletter with updated ticket information.

The email confirmed that the game against the Cleveland Guardians, originally scheduled for April 8, has now been rescheduled for Thursday, April 7, and will be the Royals’ 2022 season opener at Kauffman Stadium. First pitch will be at 3:10 p.m.

Tickets for the April 8 game will be honored for the rescheduled opener on April 7. No action is required on behalf of the ticket holders and the same ticket should be used for entry, according to the emailed announcement.

In regard to the previously scheduled home games April 4-7, those tickets are no longer valid and all ticket holders should have been contacted with ticket options for a refund or credit. Ticket credit can be used to purchase tickets to any regular-season home games during the 2022 season.

A fully revised season schedule is expected to be released “soon,” according to the email.
