Get ready for Kansas City Royals baseball: MLB owners, players agree to end lockout

Major League Baseball’s owners and the Players Association reached an agreement that will allow the lockout to end and spring training camps to start, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported on Thursday afternoon.

Ratification of the deal by both sides was still pending as of Thursday afternoon, but the Players Association reportedly voted to approve the deal.

Kansas City Royals players will soon report to Surprise, Arizona and spring training games could resume within the next 10 days.

The Washington Post reported that the mandatory report day for players will be this weekend, March 13, and that a full 162-game schedule is planned.

MLB had previously canceled the first four series of the regular season but will reschedule those games, according to the league.

Opening Day is now expected to be April 7, according to multiple reports.

MLB transactions, including free-agent signings and trades have been frozen since the owners locked out the players on Dec. 2.

Transactions could resume as early Thursday night.
