Here’s how you can buy Kansas City Royals tickets, even with MLB lockout dragging on
Major League Baseball has locked out its players, delaying the start of spring training. Fox Sports reported Thursday the league told players a new labor deal must be reached by Feb. 28 or it will delay the start of the 2022 season.
On Friday came this news: the Royals put single-game tickets for the season on sale. To buy them, go to the Royals’ website or use the MLB Ballpark app on a mobile device.
Those two items may not seem to line up, but the Royals said fans would be protected.
Sam Mellinger, the Royals vice president of communications, said that if a game isn’t played, fans who bought single-game tickets would have the option of an account credit that could be applied towards another game or a refund.
“The specific polices for the various types of ticket purchases (Season/Group/Single Game) will be dependent on the outcome of the scheduling of games,” Mellinger wrote in an email to The Star.
MLB announced Friday that spring training games would not be played through at least March 4 because of the lockout. Mellinger said fans who bought tickets for those canceled games in Surprise could get refunds or make exchanges.
The Royals are scheduled to open the home part of their regular-season schedule on April 4 with a game against the White Sox. Ticket prices for that game are between $31 and $209. For the next home game, on March 6 against Chicago, tickets cost $10-$77.
There also is an option to watch batting practice on select nights for $15. Fans who pay for that option would be allowed into Kauffman Stadium one hour earlier than when the games open.
Royals fans should be prepared to pay for parking too: Passes are $20.
If fans want more than a single-game ticket, there are options for season tickets, a choice for only Sunday games and a voucher plan that allows fans to choose 16 games.
