The Royals’ classic uniform look from the 1990s is returning. Well, halfway at least.

Powder blue jerseys, which were worn by legends George Brett and Bo Jackson three decades ago, are among the changes the Royals are making to their uniforms for the 2022 season. The team unveiled the new looks on Friday.

“We’re excited to introduce to our fans, our new uniform set for the 2022 season,” Royals Vice President/Major League Team Operations Jeff Davenport said in a news release. “These updates reflect fresh variations on our brand esthetic, that generations of Royals fans have come to identify with, while also offering newer classic looks to the overall uniform set. We see these as an ode to the traditions of the past yet refined and updated for inspiration of what’s to come.”

Here is a look at what is coming for the 2022 season.

The darker blue alternates also have block letting for “KANSAS CITY.”

The powder blues are back! Well, sort of. The Royals will wear powder-blue tops but with white pants as an alternate look. The powder-blue pants, once part of the uniform, are not back.

These should look familiar to fans, although the Royals noted: “All four Royals uniforms will include a bolder, more pronounced stripe around the sleeve, and all uniform lettering will be solid white or solid blue, without an outline.”
