Tuesday was a day of firsts at Kauffman Stadium.

It was the first time the Kansas City Royals played an intrasquad game since the start of spring training 2.0.

It was the first time manager Mike Matheny managed his team in a game at Kauffman Stadium.

For Royals chairman and CEO John Sherman, it was the first time he saw his team take the field in a game at Kauffman since he became owner last November.

Granted, they were minor firsts since it was only a practice game, but there is a first time for everything. In this pandemic-shortened season, every small step means there is a chance teams and fans will actually be able to enjoy something akin to baseball season.

Here are some photos from Tuesday’s practice game.
