Royals’ Brady Singer has start washed away by rain

Wednesday’s Kansas City Royals Cactus League spring training exhibition game against the Cleveland Indians at Goodyear Ballpark was canceled due to inclement weather.

Steady rain made the field conditions unplayable and washed out the contest after the Indians initially announced a one-hour delay. The game was officially canceled at 2:45 p.m. CT.

Right-hander Brady Singer, ranked by MLBPipeline.com as their top pitching prospect, was supposed to start Wednesday’s game. He’ll now join the group of pitchers scheduled to pitch on Thursday.

Left-hander Danny Duffy is scheduled to start on Thursday against the Seattle Mariners in Surprise, Ariz. Pitchers Greg Holland, Tyler Zuber, Kevin McCarthy, Randy Rosario and Andres Machado are also scheduled to pitch behind Duffy on Thursday.

The Royals top four pitching prospects, Daniel Lynch, Jackson Kowar, Kris Bubic and Singer were all non-roster invitees to big league camp. All are projected as starters. Lynch and Kowar were assigned to minor league camp on March 7, while Bubic got sent over on March 9.

Singer, the Pitcher of the Year Award winner for Double-A Northwest Arkansas in 2019, has allowed three runs on seven hits and four walks in 5 2/3 innings this spring. He has also struck out six batters.
