With special deals, Royals are making push for a sellout at home opener
Last week, the Royals offered two chances for fans to win a pair of tickets to the home opener on April 2 that included some special perks.
The winners, who were selected on Twitter, also received two pregame party passes with unlimited food and an autographed baseball by Jorge Soler.
It was the latest special deal from the Royals, who are making a push to sell out Kauffman Stadium for the home opener against Seattle after falling short a year ago. While most of the lower deck seats at Kauffman Stadium have been sold as of Monday morning, there are roughly 2,000 available seats in the upper deck.
“There are still tickets available,” Royals vice president of publicity Toby Cook said, “but we’ve had a really good run on opening day tickets in the last week.”
The Twitter offer wasn’t the only way the Royals were trying to entice fans. Jackson County residents were given a chance to buy tickets for the home opener at a discounted price.
The Royals, who have lost 207 games over the past two seasons, also had a “Reporting Day” special last month timed with pitchers and catchers arriving at spring training. It was a no-fee sale the home opener. Then there was a “Tripl3 Play” offer. For $45, fans had an opportunity to purchase an opening-day ticket and tickets for two other 2020 home games.
Earlier this month, the Royals announced a “Dog & A Drink Deal.” For $47, fans can receive a View Reserved seat to the home opener and a free hot dog and Pepsi.
All of these deals are aimed at making sure The K is filled once again.
“We did not sell out last year after we had so many years before,” Cook said. “We want to get back on a streak of sellouts again.”
