Royals continue tradition of unique billboards with Jorge Soler in neon lights

Regardless of how fans look back at the Royals’ success since 2013, there should be a general consensus that the team usual knocks it out of the park with its billboards

In 2013, James Shields delivered a pitch across Interstate 35 to Salvador Perez in dual billboards. The following year, Alex Gordon’s slide “ripped up” part of the billboard. In 2015, a billboard lit up at night to show Jarrod Dyson blazing his way on the basepaths (and burning the billboard). The 2016 edition was a “Salvy Splash” and became an Instagram/Facebook hotspot.

The Royals took last year off to advertise on a Kansas City streetcar, but there is a new billboard ahead of the 2020 season, and this one lights up at night thanks to Soler Power.

No typo there.

The billboard is of American League home run champion Jorge Soler and neon lighting is used. Take a look at what was unveiled Monday at Southwest Trafficway and Westport Road (and you can get a better look in the video above in which owner John Sherman lights it up):

Here are some of the other billboards from years past:
