Four ’80s bands will play a concert together at Kauffman Stadium in June

One fan slogan during the Royals’ World Series run in 2015 was “Party Like It’s 1985.”

Royals fans will have a chance to party like they are back in 1980s next summer when four big musical acts from that decade will play a concert at Kauffman Stadium.

The Stadium Tour featuring Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe with Poison and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts will stop at the Royals’ home on June 23, 2020.

All four bands were on Ranker’s list of Top 100 bands from the 1980s.

“This is going to be a Monster of a tour,” Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott said in a news release.

Def Leppard’s first No. 1 album “Hysteria” was released in 1987. Three Mötley Crüe albums reached the top 10 in the 1980s. Poison’s single “Every Rose Has A Thorn” reached No. 1 in 1988. Joan Jett & The Blackhearts’ biggest album “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll” came out in 1981.

This will be the second concert at The K in three years.

In 2018, Billy Joel played a concert at Kauffman Stadium, the first on the baseball field since REO Speedwagon in 1979.

It remains to be seen where the stage will be located for The Stadium tour, but it was in center field for Billy Joel’s show. If that’s the case, Mötley Crüe will be performing in an area where Darryl Motley made seven starts for the Royals in the 1980s.

Presales for The Stadium Tour are scheduled to go on sale Jan. 6. After playing in Kansas City, the tour will move to Busch Stadium in St. Louis on June 25.
