Aaron Stubblefield’s RBI single highlighted a three-run first inning for the J All-Stars during their 5-3 win over the B team during the Ban Johnson All-Star Game on Sunday morning at Kauffman Stadium

Stubblefield, a third baseman from the Milgram Mustangs, went two for three and was selected the most valuable player by league officials.

Stubblefield, a 22-year-old graduate of O’Hara High School, said playing for Milgram manager Kevin Shaw this summer has helped him progress as a player. he will be attending Sterling College this fall.

“This means a lot,” Stubblefield said. “All that hard work has paid off.”

The B team scored first on two-out doubles by BJ Raiders shortstop Coleman Waheed and Seaboard first baseman Anthony Miller.

The J took the lead in the bottom of the first. After driving in Milgram second baseman Chase Watt with the tying run, Stubblefield scored the go-ahead run when a ground ball hit by NKC Apartments’ Matthew Stacks was misplayed.

The third run of the inning scored on a bases loaded walk to Milgram outfielder Sam Morman.

The J’s added two runs in the bottom of the seventh on a two-out double by the MSBL Royals’ designated hitter Aaron Gile.

"I got a fast ball inside, extended and drove it down the (third-base) line," Gile said.

The B team scored their last two runs in the top of the ninth on a passed ball and a sacrifice fly by Bandits outfielder Austin Evans.

The teams were split arbitrarily since the 13 teams in the league are not split into divisions.
