Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell says he has lymphoma
Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell says he has a “very treatable” form of cancer.
Farrell said Friday that he would take a medical leave to deal with Stage 1 lymphoma. Farrell, 53, said bench coach Torey Lovullo will run the team in his absence.
The Red Sox are in last place in the AL East with a 50-64 record.
Farrell guided Boston to the World Series title in his first season in 2013.
