YEAR: Senior

SPORT: Track and field

A Missouri defending state-champion pole vaulter, Nilsen cleared the bar at an even 18 feet last week at the Suburban Red Conference meet. That’s the best mark in the nation this season and only four inches shy of the national high school record.

Nicole Kallenberger

SCHOOL: Lee’s Summit West

YEAR: Senior

SPORT: Track and field

Kallenberger was a two-time winner at the Suburban Gold Conference meet last week. She won the 100-meter hurdles race in 16.35 seconds, before recording a pole vault of 12 feet, 9 inches — the top mark in the state this spring.
