Former Barstow tennis player Bradley Frye named to USTA Junior Leadership Team
Bradley Frye, an Overland Park native, was named to the USTA Junior Leadership Team, a first-year initiative that recognizes junior-tennis players across the country who best exhibit leadership, sportsmanship and character on and off the court. He was one of nearly 30 players nationwide named to the team.
Frye reached the Missouri Class 1 state singles championship as a freshman at Barstow last spring. He is ranked No. 31 in the USTA boys under-16 national rankings.
“The competition makes the game,” Frye said in a news release. “This is probably one of the only sports that I really enjoy competing in and not just goofing around with friends. My friends and family support me throughout the whole journey, and that’s why it means so much to me.”
Frye elected to play tournaments across the country this spring rather than compete for Barstow.
He was also selected to co-chair the USTA Missouri Valley section’s Junior Culture and Sportsmanship Council.
