Olathe North football player Isaiah Simmons commits to Clemson

Olathe North High School wide receiver and defensive back Isaiah Simmons announced his decisision to attend Clemson University on Twitter Tuesday night.

Simmons is listed as a three-star recruit by Rivals.com. He is ranked as the No. 3 recruit in the state of Kansas and the No. 32-ranked safety, nationally.

“I want to thank all of my family, friends and coaches who have supported me and led me to this decision and for helping me get through this process,” Simmons said in a statement on Twitter. “I am also thankful to all the schools that recruited me and had faith that I could make a difference in their program.

After a long, hard and thought-out decision, I have decided to continue my career as a Clemson Tiger.”

Simmons had 82 receptions for 815 yards and nine touchdowns as a wide receiver. He finished the fall season with four 100-plus-yard games and three that included two or more touchdowns. He averaged 32.6 yards per catch.

Defensively, Simmons recorded 95 tackles, eight pass breakups, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and two blocked kicks for the Eagles, who were 10-2 and advanced to the Kansas Class 6A semifinals.

Simmons was an All-Sunflower League first-team selection as both a wide receiver and defensive back. He was also selected to be a Semper Fi All-American.
