The Star’s high school athletes of the week (Jan. 21)

Kierra Collier

SCHOOL: Truman

YEAR: Junior

SPORT: Basketball

Over a three-game stretch last week, Collier scored 27.3 points per game for the Patriots. She also led the team in assists (17) and rebounds (24) during the span. The Patriots defeated St. Joseph Central, Blue Springs South and Ruskin.

Thomas Lipscomb

SCHOOL: Heritage Christian Academy

YEAR: Sophomore

SPORT: Basketball

In a 68-45 victory last week at McLouth, Lipscomb had 36 points, seven rebounds and six blocks. He went nine-for-10 from three-point range, which was a career-high mark. His previous high points in a game was 14, which he’s accomplished twice this season.
