Report: Monte Harrison signs with the Milwaukee Brewers
Monte Harrison has chosen baseball.
According to an ESPN report, Harrison signed a contract Saturday with the Milwaukee Brewers worth $1.8 million.
The Brewers selected the former Lee’s Summit West standout with the 50th overall pick in the 2014 MLB Draft on Thursday.
The slotted value for the 50th pick is $1.1 million, meaning the Brewers offered $700,000 more than the assigned value.
By signing with the Brewers, Harrison spurned an offer to play football and basketball at Nebraska. Harrison is rated as a four-star wide receiver after scoring 28 touchdowns last fall for Lee’s Summit West, which won the Missouri Class 5 state championship.
