The Jaguars defeated Aquinas 38-20 in Week 1 and hope for the same result in a Kansas Class 5A state semifinal.

5. St. Thomas Aquinas ... 9-2 ... Friday at Mill Valley

James Cosentino and Karter Odermann combined for five rushing touchdowns against St. James Academy last week.

6. Blue Valley ... 9-2 ... Friday vs. Olathe North

The Tigers definitely have momentum after knocking off top-seeded and undefeated Lawrence last week.

7. Park Hill ... 11-2 ... Season over

The Trojans won 24 games over two years, but failed to make a state championship appearance.

8. Staley ... 9-2 ... Season over

Coach Fred Bouchard’s final season came to a close with a loss to Park Hill two weeks ago.

9. Lawrence ... 10-1 ... Season over

The Chesty Lions suffered their first loss of the season to Blue Valley in a Kansas Class 6A state quarterfinal.

10. Blue Valley North ... 8-2 ... Season over

The Mustangs’ two losses came against ranked teams — Olathe North and St. Thomas Aquinas.

The Kansas 4A Division I defending state champion throttled Paola last week, 65-14.

2. Kearney ... 12-1 ... Saturday at Westminster Christian Academy

The Bulldogs have advanced to the Missouri state semifinals in three straight seasons.

3. Harrisonville ... 12-1 ... Season over

For the second straight year, the Wildcats’ season ended with a loss to Webb City.

4. Odessa ... 12-1 ... Friday at Aurora

The Bulldogs are seeking their first appearance in the state championship game since 1994.

5. Eudora ... 8-3 ... Friday vs. Bishop Miege

The Cardinals seek their second Kansas Class 4A Division I state title game berth in four seasons.
