Here’s the 913 area high school football Week 9 recap for teams in the Eastern Kansas League, Sunflower League and five other squads, including team’s overall record, conference record, last week’s result, this week’s opponent and a comment.

Eastern Kansas League

1. Bishop Miege (8-1, 5-1)

Beat Sumner 75-0; Fri. vs. Piper

The second-seeded Stags are looking to repeat as Kansas Class 4A Division I state champions.

2. Blue Valley North (8-1, 5-1)

Beat Shawnee Mission West 49-21; Fri. vs. Olathe North

The Mustangs are riding a seven-game winning streak going in to the Class 6A state tournament.

3. St. Thomas Aquinas (7-2, 4-1)

Beat Pittsburg 35-3; Fri. vs. Topeka Seaman

The Class 5A runners-up are headed back to the state tournament with a five-game win streak.

4. Blue Valley (7-2, 3-2)

Beat Blue Valley Northwest 25-7; Fri. vs. Shawnee Mission West

The Tigers swept their district and allowed just 30 points in the process. They scored 109.

5. Blue Valley Southwest (3-6, 1-4)

Beat Blue Valley West 21-0; season over

The Timberwolves ended their season with a victory, but failed to advance to the Class 5A tournament.

6. Blue Valley West (2-7, 1-4)

Lost to Blue Valley Southwest 21-0; season over

The Jaguars ended their season with three consecutive losses and were outscored 119-19.

7. Gardner Edgerton (2-7, 1-4)

Beat Olathe South 12-9; season over

The Trailblazers end their season with a victory, but failed to qualify for the state tournament.

8. Blue Valley Northwest (2-7, 0-5)

Lost to Blue Valley 25-7; Fri. at Shawnee Mission East

The Huskies were winless entering district play, but won two of their last three to qualify for state.

Sunflower League

1. Lawrence (9-0, 5-0)

Beat Olathe East 47-8; Fri. vs. Shawnee Mission North

The Lions are one of four undefeated teams entering the Class 6A tournament this week.

2. Olathe North (8-1, 5-0)

Beat Olathe Northwest 19-13; Fri. at Blue Valley North

Despite playing their lowest scoring game of the season, the Eagles recovered from their first loss.

3. Shawnee Mission East (8-1, 4-1)

Beat Shawnee Mission North 56-34; Fri. vs. Blue Valley Northwest

The Class 6A defending state champions carry a four-game winning streak into the postseason.

4. Shawnee Mission West (7-2, 5-1)

Lost to Blue Valley North 49-21; Fri. at Blue Valley

The Vikings ended their season on a loss, but still advance to the Class 6A state tournament.

5. Olathe Northwest (7-2, 4-1)

Lost to Olathe North 19-13; season over

The Ravens set a program record with seven victories this season and narrowly missed the playoffs.

6. Lawrence Free State (6-3, 3-3)

Beat Topeka 21-0; Fri. vs. Wichita West

The Firebirds enter the Class 6A state tournament with a six-game winning streak.

7. Olathe East (3-6, 3-2)

Lost to Lawrence 47-8; season over

The Hawks ended the season on a four-game losing streak after winning three in-a-row.

8. Shawnee Mission North (3-6, 1-5)

Lost to Shawnee Mission East 56-34; Fri. at Lawrence

The Indians won two of their three games this season in district play to advance to state.

9. Leavenworth (2-7, 0-5)

Lost to Lansing 48-19; Fri. at Mill Valley

The Pioneers defense snapped a two-game shutout streak in the loss at Lansing last Friday.

10. Olathe South (1-8, 1-4)

Lost to Gardner Edgerton 12-9; season over

The Falcons were held to 20 points or fewer in every game this season and single digits in four.

11. Shawnee Mission Northwest (1-8 1-4)

Lost to Shawnee Mission South 14-6; season over

The Cougars lost seven consecutive games to end their first season with coach Bo Black.

12. Shawnee Mission South(1-8, 0-6)

Beat Shawnee Mission Northwest 14-6; season over

The Raiders picked up their fist victor under coach Brett Oberzan in the final game of the season.

Other schools

1. Mill Valley(8-1, 0-0)

Beat Turner 48-0; Fri. vs. Leavenworth

The Jaguars defense turned in its first shutout of the season to secure a spot in the state tournament.

2. St. James Academy (8-1, IND)

Beat Bonner Spring 26-7; Fri. at Lansing

The Thunder avenged the loss that kept them out of the Class 5A playoffs last season to advance.

3. De Soto (6-3, 0-0)

Beat Ottawa 21-6; Fri. at Paola

The Wildcats have held four opponents to seven or fewer points so far this season.

4. Spring Hill(2-7, 1-4)

Lost to Louisburg 37-19; season over

The Broncos lost four of their last five games to finish their first season with coach Jason Feeback.

5. Immaculata/Maranatha Chrisitan (1-7)

Beat Onaga 20-6; season over

The two schools combined forces at the beginning of the season and ended with their first victory.
