Here’s the 913 area high school football Week 8 recap for teams in the Eastern Kansas League, Sunflower League and five other squads, including team’s overall record, conference record, last week’s result, this week’s opponent and a comment.

Eastern Kansas League

1. Bishop Miege (7-1, 5-1)

Beat Louisburg 42-6; Fri. vs. Sumner Academy

Dawson Downing and Carter Putz each scored three touchdowns in the Stags’ fifth straight victory.

2. Blue Valley North (7-1, 5-1)

Beat Shawnee Mission Northwest 45-21; Fri. at Shawnee Mission West

The Mustangs have scored 42 points or more in each of their last three games and allowed 28.

3. St. Thomas Aquinas (6-2, 4-1)

Beat Blue Valley West 42-6; Fri. at Pittsburg

James Cosentino, who is returning from a season-ending leg injury in 2014, scored three touchdowns.

4. Blue Valley (6-2, 3-2)

Beat Olathe South 49-16; Fri. vs. Blue Valley Northwest

The Tigers kept their offense balanced with three rushing and four receiving touchdowns.

Kirby Grigsby led the Vikings to their fourth straight victory with three touchdowns on Thursday.

The Ravens are enjoying their most successful season in program history, winning five of their last six games.
