Here’s the 913 area high school football recap for teams in the Eastern Kansas League, Sunflower League and five other squads, including team’s overall record, conference record, last week’s result, this week’s opponent and a comment.

Eastern Kansas League

1. Bishop Miege (2-0, 2-0)

Beat Gardner Edgerton 59-20; Fri. at Blue Valley

Six different players scored for the Stags and Carter Putz led the way with three touchdowns.

2. Blue Valley (2-0, 1-0)

Beat Blue Valley West 34-24; Fri. vs. Bishop Miege

Backup quarterback Matthew Dercher stepped up to lead the Tigers with four touchdowns.

3. St. Thomas Aquinas (1-1, 1-0)

Beat BV North 42-13; Thurs. at BV Northwest

Karter Odermann threw for one touchdown and ran for two more in the Saints’ first victory.

4. Blue Valley North (1-1, 1-1)

Lost to St. Thomas Aquinas 42-13; Fri. vs. BV West

The Mustangs gave up five touchdowns on the ground after posting a Week 1 shutout.

5. Blue Valley Southwest (1-1, 0-1)

Beat Shawnee Heights 42-14; Fri. at Gardner Edgerton

The Timberwolves picked up their first victory under coach Anthony Orrick at home.

6. Blue Valley Northwest (0-2, 0-1)

Lost to Mill Valley 40-6, Thurs. vs. Aquinas

The Huskies are off to a rough start, having been held to 14 points or fewer in their first two games.

7. Blue Valley West (0-2, 0-1)

Lost to Blue Valley 34-24; Fri. at BV North

Nathan Wiles contributed to all three of the Jaguars’ touchdowns with two on the ground and one through the air.

8. Gardner Edgerton (0-2, 0-1)

Lost to Bishop Miege 59-20; Fri. vs. BV Southwest

Hunter Skeens scored the Trailblazers’ first two touchdowns of the season on the ground.

Sunflower League

1. Shawnee Mission East (2-0, 1-0)

Beat SM South 49-0; Fri. vs. SM Northwest

The Class 6A defending state champions have outscored opponents 94-0 in their first two games.

2. Shawnee Mission West (2-0, 2-0)

Beat Olathe Northwest 20-12; Fri. at SM North

Adam Reillihan led the Vikings to a comeback victory with two touchdowns after weather delays.

3. Lawrence (2-0, 1-0)

Beat Leavenworth 41-14; Fri. at Lawrence Free State

JD Woods led the Chesty Lions with five rushing touchdowns and Trey Moore added one.

4. Olathe North (1-1, 1-0)

Beat Lawrence Free State 24-20; Fri. at Olathe South

Isaiah Simmons secured the victory with a 68-yard funble return late in the fourth quarter.

5. Olathe South (1-1, 1-0)

Beat Olathe East 14-6; Fri. vs. Olathe North

DaeVonte’ Nance helped the Falcons even up their record with a Sunflower League victory.

6. Shawnee Mission Northwest (1-1, 1-0)

Beat SM North 44-29; Fri. at SM East

The Cougars bounced back from a week one loss for coach Bo Black’s first victory.

7. Shawnee Mission North (1-1, 1-1)

Lost to SM Northwest 44-29; Fri. vs. SM West

The defense had trouble containing the Cougars, after allowing just eight points in the opener.

8. Olathe Northwest (1-1, 0-1)

Lost to SM West 20-12; Fri. vs. Leavenworth

The Ravens led 12-0 before a rain postponement and then gave up 20 unanswered points.

9. Leavenworth (0-2, 0-1)

Lost to Lawrence 41-14; Fri. at Olathe Northwest

The Pioneers were held scoreless in the first three quarters before a pair of rushing touchdowns.

10. Olathe East (0-2, 0-1)

Lost to Olathe South 14-6; Thurs. at SM South

The Hawks gave up 14 straight points, before Brett Kelsh scored on a one-yard touchdown run.

11. Lawrence Free State (0-2, 0-2)

Lost to Olathe North 24-20; Fri. vs. Lawrence

The Firebirds surrendered a late lead with a fourth quarter fumble. They also gave up a safety.

12. Shawnee Mission South (0-2, 0-2)

Lost to SM East 49-0; Thurs. at Olathe East

The Raiders forced a few turnovers, but could not slow down the explosive Lancers.

Other schools

1. Mill Valley (2-0, 0-0)

Beat BV Northwest 40-6; Fri. at Derby

The Jaguars proved once again that they can hang with the bigger schools, topping another EKL opponent.

2. St. James Academy (2-0, IND)

Beat Wyandotte 60-0; Fri. vs. De Soto

Dylan Streeter, Jake Burgmeier, Mason Dunsmore and Trey Keith had multiple touchdowns for the Thunder.

3. De Soto (2-0, 1-0)

Beat Paola 23-7; Fri. at St. James

The Wildcats slowed down an explosive Panthers offense that scored 60 points in Week 1.

4. Spring Hill (0-2, 0-1)

Lost to Fort Scott 50-14; Fri. at Ottawa

The Broncos have been outscored 110-39 in their first two games of the season.

5. Immaculata/Maranatha Christian (0-2)

Lost to Arma-Northeast 35-32; Sat. at Oskaloosa

The team’s first two losses have been decided by a combined seven points.
