Zane Tanner to take over Kearney boys basketball program
After 17 years leading the West Platte boys basketball program, Zane Tanner said Friday he has accepted an offer to become the new Kearney Bulldogs head coach.
"Sad to leave West Platte — going to really miss everyone," Tanner announced on his Twitter account. "But excited to start a new experience leading the Kearney boys basketball program."
Tanner replaces Gary Belcher, who departed earlier this month for the head coaching job at St. Joseph Benton.
West Platte lost just two games in the past three seasons under Tanner.
The Blue Jays reached the Missouri Class 2 Final Four four times with Tanner at the helm, finishing second twice and fourth twice.
