Custer tabbed as Gatorade Kansas Boys Basketball Player of the Year
After helping Blue Valley Northwest repeat at Kansas Class 6A state champions, senior guard Clayton Custer was announced as the Gatorade Kansas Boys Basketball Player of the Year. Custer, who is going to play at Iowa State next season, averaged 19.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.4 steals per game.
He and the other seniors amassed a 94-6 record as varsity players, including a 23-2 mark this season, and reached the state title game all four years. Custer led Blue Valley Northwest with 25 points as it defeated cross-town rival Blue Valley North 73-46 in the championship game this season.
